Hi,

I would like to create paths from maps with Illustrator. These paths will be given IDs so that I can select them. Paths should have nested paths.

Do you know of any tutorials showing this? I don't want to use any pre-existing maps.

I've searched for this on Youtube without finding what I need. I must be using the wrong terms.

Thanks.

What is it you have?
Not sure I understand by map, do mean you have drawings you need to trace or digitise?

Paths in Illustrator (or SVG) are not nested, although groups which contain paths and other elements may be.

In Illustrator the paths or other elements within named layers are exported to SVG wrapped in groups with ids derived from the respective layer names.

Hi,

You can use www.drawsvg.org http://www.drawsvg.org to draw paths on a map.
Paths can have nested paths.

See these demos :
